Calories burned calculator

Choose an activity, enter the time and your weight — see how many calories you burned.

How it is calculated

Each activity has a MET value: how many times more energy it uses than sitting still. Calories = MET × body weight in kg × time in hours. The values come from the Compendium of Physical Activities, used in research worldwide.

How to use the number

Activity calories are estimates. If you count calories, do not eat back all of them — fitness trackers and formulas often overestimate. Use your weight trend over 2–3 weeks as the real check.

Questions and answers

Does running or walking burn more?

Per minute, running burns about twice as much. Per kilometre the difference is smaller, because walking takes longer.

Why does a heavier person burn more?

Moving a heavier body takes more energy, so the same activity burns more calories.
